I usually try to stay on topic on this blog educating you with information pertaining to internet marketing and making money online but today I feel that it’s necessary to spread the word about the recent disaster in Haiti caused by a 7.0 earthquake. In fact, you may not even realize it but they are still being hit with magnitude 4-5 quakes which are very destructive themselves.
Usually, it can be a pain for people to donate. After all there’s hundreds of companies we’ve never heard of that come out of the wood work to ask for donations and who knows if they’re on the up and up. One company we can all trust is the American Red Cross Organization. Even still, in the past you had to mail in your donation or call in to give credit card details over the phone.
We’re in a new age of technology and over the last several years, mobile texting donations are quickly rising. You can send in a one time $10 donation by simply texting “Haiti” (without the quotes) to 90999
The charge will be simply applied to your credit card bill. Ten dollars may not seem like much but it goes a long way in paying for gas, food, and shelter. Tens of thousands of people are counting on YOU and I to help in their time of need. Take a moment to send a text message.
The Red Cross is already over $10 million dollars in donations and we can get them to an even higher record to ensure the largest number of people possible are safe. We’re not just talking about men and women but also children of all ages that have been affected by this catastrophe.
For more information or to donate online visit the Red Cross website.
Thanks,

No doubt that the Red Cross is capable of handling a disaster of this magnitude however, it is a large organization that has a huge overhead; therefore, we don’t know how much of the donated funds would be used for the earthquake victims. However, organizations such as “Doctors Without Borders” who “hit the ground running” with their expert medical and life-saving skills and, “Partners in Health”, an organization made up of doctors and nurses who have been working in Haiti for several years now, have an exemplary work record for providing for the people of Haiti because they live there and know the culture and language.
Much thanks for everyone’s support, prayers and generous donations!
I am glad to see you put this up. I too have personally been trying to spread the word here in Denmark and on Facebook and Twitter posts with how people can contribute. I have of course already done so myself with contributions to three organisations.
The following are some good initiatives where donations can be made.
We can all help make a difference. Even just sending this list to people we know can help:

Keith,
Thanks for the information on the quick and easy way to donate to the Red Cross. My Grandfather worked for the Red Cross as a Disaster Relief Co-ordinator for over 40 years. This is a remarkable organization that is well established world wide and can hit the ground running. We can all immediately add to the relief effort with a quick text donation. Cool!
